Construction of the joint government-Ayka Addis industrial park is to begin, following the submission last week of the design done by local firm K2N Architecture & Engineering Consultancy Plc. The construction will be undertaken by Ayka Addis Construction, a sister company of Ayka Addis Textile and Investment Group Plc.
The industrial park will be established on four hectares of land at Jemo Mekanisa. There are five floors. On one floor there two factory sheds with each one resting on 10,000sqm.K2N’s design can be modified to have three sheds on each floor instead of two. The park will also have waste management facilities, including liquid waste treatment facilities for effluent from the factories. Cafeterias, green areas, and stores will also be built in the park. The facility, which is expected to create an employment opportunity for more than 10,000 people, is intended to focus on textile and garment industries. Government holds a 70pc share, with the remaining 30pc held by Ayka Addis Textile Company. Ayka Addis Construction has applied for a construction permit and is ready to begin construction after the rainy season, Yusuf Aydinzy, co-owner and president of Ayka Textile underscored.
