The Company

Population Services International (PSI) is a leading nonprofit social marketing organization in the world that addresses the health problems of low-income and vulnerable populations in more than 60 developing countries. PSI/Ethiopia, founded in 2003, is the local platform of Population Services International and has national programs on malaria, child survival and HIV/AIDS. PSI promotes products, services and healthy behaviors by using private sector marketing techniques and innovative communications campaigns to motivate the low-income and vulnerable people to lead healthier lives. Follow us on twitter https://twitter.com/PSIEthiopia to learn more about what we are up to.

PSI was founded in 1970 to improve reproductive health using commercial marketing strategies. For its first 15 years, PSI worked mostly on family planning (hence the name Population Services International). In 1985, it started promoting oral re-hydration therapy. PSI’s first HIV prevention project — which promoted abstinence, fidelity and condoms — began in 1988. PSI added malaria and safe water to its portfolio in the 1990s and tuberculosis in 2004.

PSI makes it easier for people in the developing world to lead healthier lives and plan the families they desire by marketing affordable products and services.
