Yara Dallol BV has been investigating the potash mining potential in the Dallol area in the Danakil Depression, Afar National Regional State (ANRS), Ethiopia. The company has completed a Definitive Feasibility Study in January 2015 with positive results and expects to receive a mining license for a 600,000 ton/year sulphate of potash (SOP) production from the Ethiopian Federal Ministry of Mines during the year. The mining project is now in a Pre-Execution stage preparing for construction of a large scale mining and processing facility in Dallol.
