SCOPE: The Position mainly involves community mobilization works, community level hygiene and sanitation promotion activities, and awareness raising campaigns and monitoring of WASH facility rehabilitation and maintenance. |
RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Reports to HPO of ERR program.
· Participate in assessment of hygiene and sanitation situation for specific emergency responses or locations or kebeles under the ERR project
· Assist in preparation of detail Hygiene and sanitation promotion plan at specific intervention/location/kebeles under the ERR project.
· Disseminate hygiene and sanitation messages at community level.
· Asses community hygiene knowledge and practice gap and prepare IEC materials on SHP.
· Organize and mobilize community for hygiene promotion campaign and facilitate community level hygiene awareness campaigns.
· Assist in Organizing and Facilitating Training for community representatives on Hygiene and sanitation.
· Assist in Planning, organizing and distribution of emergency supplies to the community.
· Monitor the proper distribution of water treatment chemicals and water rationing.
· Monitor proper usage of water treatment chemicals.
· Promote latrine construction.
· Closely work with water technician and capacity building officer for training and community mobilization activities.
· Work closely with Government Health Extension Workers, Water Committees, towards efficient and effective implementation of the response;
· Put beneficiary feedback and response mechanism in place and follow functionality of the mechanism.
· Prepare activity progress reports and submit to the supervisor.
· Takes additional related works as assigned by Supervisor and FO Management.
REQUIREMENTS: EDUCATION: BSc/Diploma in Environmental Health, Health Education or equivalent.
YEARS OF EXPERIENCE: 3 years of relevant work experience for diploma holders 1 year relevant work experience for first degree. NGO experience is a plus |
LANGUAGES: Communication in English, Tigrigna
SKILLS: · Experience & skills in community mobilization, hygiene promotion. · Ability to work as part of a team as well as to work autonomously when required; - Essential · Very good at computer- Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Power Point and e-mail); - Preferable · Relevant work experience on hygiene promotion with I/NGO in development or emergency settings - Preferable |
