We are looking for an exceptional campaigner to contribute to advancing Oxfam’s work on aid effectiveness and deepening engagement with African and other southern institution on development finance. The successful applicant will have demonstrable experience in successful advocacy and influencing strategies at the regional level, as well as experience in coordinating with large number of professional – aligning momentum, strategy and analysis to achieve results.
S/he is a team player, who is comfortable working within dynamic and evolving contexts, with good oral and written communication skills to facilitate dialogue and develop influencing products. Fluency in English required and competence in French and/or Portuguese is desirable.
Applicants will be considered in Addis Ababa, Nairobi and Johannesburg. Other locations in Africa where Oxfam has an office can be considered for exceptional candidates. However, applicants must already possess the legal right to work in their preferred location. Job Purpose - Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities
The Campaigner will lead on engagement with key pan-African and other Southern institutions, governments and civil society organizations and platforms to gather evidence on effectiveness of selected donor countries’ aid in Africa and other southern countries. The Campaigner will convene African and other southern actors and work on relevant development finance processes to elevate southern state and non-state actors’ voices on their aid effectiveness priorities.
The Campaigner will work closely with other colleagues in the Aid and Development Finance team to enhance Oxfam’s capacity to advocate for selected traditional and emerging donor governments to validate and expand the existing consensus around norms of effective aid; advocate for selected donor countries to adopt measures to ensure that their aid is used to mobilize other forms of development finances in recipient countries; and ensure global actors and fora articulate measurable benchmarks for implementing development effectiveness objectives.
