PURPOSE OF THE POST:
The Nutrition Specialist reports to the Chief of Nutrition and Food Security for guidance and general supervision. The Specialist is accountable for policy level engagement to create an enabling environment to increase effective coverage of nutrition sensitive and nutrition specific interventions aiming at accelerating progress toward reduction of stunting among young children in Ethiopia. He/She is also accountable for ensuring that all aspects of the Nutrition project/programme promote gender equality, and for collaborating to mainstream key features across all related sectors of the country programme.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Education Requirements: Advanced university degree in one of the disciplines relevant to the following areas: Public Health & Nutrition, Health Sciences, International Health & Nutrition, Public Health & Nutrition Policy and Management, Family Health & Nutrition, Nutritional Epidemiology, Health & Nutrition Education, Health & Nutrition Promotion and Disease Prevention, Public Health, Health Emergency Preparedness, or other relevant discipline(s). Training in gender and in nutrition programmes that promote gender equality an asset.
Work Experience: A minimum of Eight years of relevant professional work experience. Developing country work experience (for IP) or field work experience (for NO) Background/familiarity with Emergency. Experience in monitoring gender inequalities and in programming interventions that reduce these inequalities an asset. Background/familiarity with emergency operations and staff security.
Language requirement: Fluency in English is required. Knowledge of another official UN language or a local language is an asset
Nationality: Candidates should be NATIONALS of Ethiopia.
