In Ethiopia, GIZ has been working for more than 40 years in bilateral cooperation on behalf of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) and on the commission of the Ethiopian government and international donors. Responsibilities
·Enhancing the SLM website by collecting, updating and uploading of SLM relevant content, simplifying navigation and ensuring fast, secure access and optimal availability for users;
· Ensure future maintenance of SLM website by capacitating a local counterpart from NSLMPCU;
· Represent GIZ-SLM on federal level in regular NSLMPCU team meetings.
Tasks
· In collaboration with the NSLMPCU coordinator define the strategy and function of the website;
· Plan, develop, and design an updated mobile friendly website applying strong graphic skills to create a compelling and optimized web experience.
· Ensure a constant supply of high-quality, up-to-date content from internal and external providers on SLM activities;
· Collaborate with GIZ-SLM Knowledge Management Unit to obtain up-to-date information on developed training materials, best practices as per NSLMPCU requirements;
·Ensure online availability of documents relating SLMP, such as; PIM, CBPWDG, RBM&E, Exit Strategy including Best Practices and Training Packages;
· Integrate the website with the available GIS databases for ongoing SLMP watersheds making the content available online;
·Test website to ensure clear display and fast page loading times using different browsers on desktop computers and mobile devices;
·Ensure consistency of web content;
· Review website statistics and monitor usage and traffic levels in order to optimize the website;
·Report on quarterly basis to the federal level GIZ SLM CD Team leader.
Competencies
· Thorough knowledge on web design and online publishing;
·Proven record of establishing websites and information systems;
·Knowledge and understanding of SLMP guiding documents (PIM, RMB&E, CBPWD, Exit Strategy, etc.);
·Excellent communication skills to handle stakeholders with different interest, practice active listening as core principle of advice, capability of concise and coherent reporting along standard formats;
·Solution orientation;
·Detail-oriented with a commitment to results;
· Good English language skills, both written and oral;
·Excellent computer skills esp. Microsoft Office and web design software packages.
Required Entry Qualifications, Experience and Skills
· Degree or studying for a degree in computer science, computer engineering or web design;
· Thorough knowledge of programming languages, operating systems and Internet applications.
· Minimum of 5 years of relevant work experience
· Initial experience in the area of web design and maintenance
· Very good knowledge of XML, HTML, CSS, and the implementation of JavaScript
· Very good English language skills both written and orally
· Good communication skills
· Good analytic and organizing skills
· Adaptability to changing working environments
· Sense for continuous quality improvement
