The Ethiopian beer market and Meta Abo Brewery volumes are set to grow significantly over the next 5 years. Establishing a sustainable source of raw materials for brewing is critical if Meta is to achieve its strategic goals. Currently Meta imports up to 60% of its malted barley. In line with Diageo’s strategy on local sourcing of raw materials there is a need to enhance local supply of barley and potentially other cereals/sources of starch with a view to enhancing quality, securing sustainable supply and maximizing value from a COGS perspective. Manage numerous and often complex relationships across all business functions (supply, procurement, technical, corporate relations, finance, legal) and with external partners to enhance investment in Local Raw Materials (LRM). Purpose of Role To collaboratively develop and manage the LRM supply chain, quality audits and on-going sustainability and improvement (yield and quality) of delivered LRM for production of current and future Meta Abo beer brand portfolio. Manage grain quality activities across Ethiopia through active liaison and consultation with the operational site, demand functions, East Africa Hub and GBTC, local and international cereal base research institutes. Align with the Supply Function’s vision of becoming Africa’s Supplier of Choice. Accountabilities
