Job Summary:
Under direct supervision of the Accounting/Finance & Operation Manger the IT officer is responsible for undertaking the following duties and responsibilities:
I. Provides technical supervision and support for organizational network system, email system, internet and telephone system, and server environment
· Monitoring and maintaining organizational LAN System (Addis and Regional Offices)
· Troubleshoot, installation and maintenance of the organization’s LAN systems
· Troubleshooting connectivity problems; installing and maintaining routers and switches
· Install troubleshoot and maintain network printers
· Monitoring and maintaining computer systems, and networks
· Ensures networks, workstations are operational as required, operating systems and software applications are operational;
· Install, troubleshoot and maintain active directory environment
· Setting up new users’ accounts and profiles and dealing with password issues;
· Establishing e-mail addresses;
· Adding/terminating users; assigning rights and access to the system, resetting passwords
· Maintain, troubleshooting MS exchange systems
· Troubleshoot; maintain and ensures all analog, EV-DO and broadband internet systems are operational in accordance with organizational/vendor specifications
· Troubleshoot the PBX and the telephone system
· Closely work with IT companies, suppliers and ISP (ethio telecom)
II. Install, troubleshoot and maintain software, hardware systems, databases, backup systems and websites:
· Support and maintain windows operating system and application systems
· Supporting the roll-out of new software and hardware systems
· Troubleshoots and maintains Microsoft Windows applications and systems including but not limited to Windows XP, Windows Vista, Windows 7, windows server 2003/2008 R2 and Microsoft exchange
· Installing and configuring computer hardware operating systems and applications
· Performs routine preventive maintenance on hardware and software
· Ensures operating systems and software applications are operational;
· Troubleshoot, install and maintain and replacing hardware parts as required;
· Responsible for troubleshooting workstations, networks, software applications, phones, copiers and other technologies
· Performing backups and restores; etc
· Implements, administrates and maintains databases
· Designs, develops and maintains web-based applications including websites and intranets. Continuously improves the organization’s website and intranet; adds a new functionality and improves users ability to maintain without technical support
III. Support over all new and required technology and others but not limited
· Working continuously on a task until completion (or referral to third parties, if appropriate);
· Rapidly establishing a good working relationship with staff and other professionals,
· Assist, support and conducts comparative analysis and competitive IT bidding when necessary and required.
· Undertake ICT inventory including procurement and disposal
· Ensures for the availability, continuity and security of data and information
· Reports to work regularly and on time
· Establish, install testing and evaluating new technology;
· Conducting electrical safety checks on computer equipment
· Assists staff in understanding and using technology; conducts regular staff technology presentations and training
· Overall IT support for regional offices
· Assists in other duties as needed and directed
· University degree in computer science, information technology or related field,
· Five years experience in similar capacity, preferably in the INGO environment.
· Good knowledge of windows XP, vista and 7 and windows server operating systems,
· Good knowledge of desktop and laptop applications
Skills:
Excellent communications skills, ability to work as part of a team, sensitive to confidential information, troubleshooting and analyzing skill, understand the basic principles of structured cabling, recognize the function of basic network infrastructure such as routers and switches, understand the importance of documenting system configuration information, able to identify and categorize relevant information about changes in configuration for recording purposes.
