Conduct Environmental Review for Growth Through Nutrition
I. Background
Save the Children leads the implementation of Growth Through Nutrition – the USAID flagship multi-sector nutrition and WASH project, which aims to improve the nutritional status of Ethiopian women and children. The core initiative of this large-scale, five-year project (2016-2021) is to prevent undernutrition during the first 1,000 days, by focusing on maternal Infant and Young Child Nutrition, nutrition sensitive livelihoods, social and behavior change communication, learning, and WASH including construction and development of water points. It will be implemented in 100 districts in the four main regions of Ethiopia (Amhara, Oromia, SNNPR, and Tigray).
The activities under Growth Through Nutrition need Initial Environmental Examination to develop an Environmental Mitigation and Monitoring plan. Save the children is seeking an experienced and competent individual consultant who has good knowledge of USAID environmental requirements, and practical experience in conducting an Initial Environmental Examination and preparing Environmental Mitigation and Monitoring plan.
