Background:
The Last Ten Kilometers 2020 (L10K 2020) Project—a four-year project funded by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation and implemented by JSI Research & Training Institute, Inc. (JSI) in 115 districts of four of the most populous regions of the country (Amhara, Oromia, Southern Nations, Nationalities and Peoples’ [SNNP], and Tigray), to improve maternal and newborn health outcomes. Moreover, with leveraging additional resources from USAID and UNICEF, L10K is implementing projects on Community Based Newborn Care (CBNC) and immunization in 167 and 57 woredas, respectively.
L10K 2020 has designed a social and Behavioral Change Communication (SBCC) strategy to address behavioral challenges across the RMNCH continuum of care. As a key component of its SBCC strategy, L10K2020 is planned to introduce Digital Technology for Enhancing Community Health (Di-TECH) through locally produced and human –mediated dissemination of videos for improved knowledge and practices. Thus we are intending to train woreda level professionals on video production for local dissemination using Pico projector to improve the knowledge, practice and skills of mothers and HDAs on RMNCH care.
L10K 2020 project would like to hire a qualified consultant/firm who will work in a hands-on training of woreda and PHCU level staffs to enable them to produce and disseminate local video. The consultants supposed to provide two rounds of training (each round of the training will take 8 days) which involve participants from L10K 2020 and grantees staffs, woreda health office, PHCUs and woreda communication offices from Tigray, Amhara, Oromia and SNNP regions. The training supposed to be conducted during the month of November, 2016 (could be flexible based on the schedules of woredas).

Duties and Responsibilities:
Develop training facilitation guide containing training schedule, contents of each training session, group and individual exercises, note to the facilitator and trainees, pretest/post-test as required,
Develop participants’ handbook/guide for video shooting edition, dissemination and Basics of operations of the video production and dissemination tools.
Based on the developed facilitation guide, provide 8 days skill based training to woreda/PHCU staff, L10K 2020 and its grantees staff on production and utilization of appropriate educational video development, editing and finalization of the video for use.
Lead a practical exercise of video shooting, editing and uploading the video for use with trainees.
Provide one day training on how to facilitate discussion among mothers/caregivers and other community member’s using produced videos.
Provide practical troubleshooting techniques for Pico projectors and video production equipment arise on field use.

Required Qualification:
University Degree in communication, journalism and information communication technology or related fields
Experience in trainings of health workers in local video production especially in rural settings
Experience and skills in working with and operation of Pico projectors and flip cameras
Strong experience in story development, video shooting and editing
Available for preparation , and facilitation of the workshop, ongoing mentoring of the woreda video production team
Good interpersonal communication and workshop facilitation skills
Knowledge of local languages (Tigrigna and Affaan Oromo, Silitigna) is an asset.
