Background
The Donkey Sanctuary (DS) is an international animal welfare charity organization operating in Ethiopia with a vision of creating a world where donkeys and mules live free from suffering, and their contribution to humanity is fully valued. It is a registered charity (Reg. and License # 0745) under the Charity’s and Societies Agency of Ethiopia. The charity has been working in Ethiopia since 1986, initially with Addis Ababa University, College of Veterinary Medicine, Debreit, and currently operates in Amhara, Tigray, SNNPR States and Alage TVET College.
Position Summary
The charity has a vacancy for an experienced, qualified and competent Livestock Extension Officer for its SNNPRS Integrated Community-based Donkey and Mule Health and Welfare Improvement Project. The Livestock Extension Officer is expected to work in improving community practices regarding donkey and mule management through transferring knowledge and skill while working with several structures including, livestock extension, community set ups, harness and cart makers and animal health professionals working with the project team, donkey owners and other service providers in the community. The Donkey Sanctuary has committed to a five year project with the bureaus of Agriculture and Education of SNNPR State.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
Terms of employment: For the life of the respective project subjected to renewal on annual basis, based on performance.
