As part of our global efforts to eliminate trachoma, The Fred Hollows Foundation is tackling trachoma in Oromia, one of the worst affected areas in the world. Since 2013 The Fred Hollows Foundation has been working with the Oromia Regional Health Bureau, in its effort to eliminate trachoma by 2020.
Role Summery
Performs work in the operation of a vehicle to assure safe transportation of staffs, visitors, consultants, and partner to and from various destinations for business purposes and to assist them on entry and exit from vehicles as necessary to make pick-ups and deliveries of correspondence; to maintain all FHF Ethiopia motor vehicles and generators in good condition; and to observe the highest standards of discretion, integrity and personal conduct.
Key Responsibilities:
· Meeting transport needs for official purposes
· Keep vehicles and associated tools and equipment in good conditions and securely at all times.
· Maintain complete Vehicle Kit as per FHF standards.
· Maintain motor vehicle movement logs and files.
· Report accidents on an immediate basis as per FHF Vehicle management policy.
· Maintain vehicle maintenance schedule and follow up repairs accordingly
· Maintain adequate fuel levels in all FHF Ethiopia vehicles.
· Assist in submission and delivery of correspondences.
· Perform other duties, as required to meet the objectives of the team.
Other Duties:
· Procurement – assist in collecting quotes from different suppliers as instructed by the Cluster Manager/Project Manager.
· Perform liaising activities with government organizations, partners and other parties in terms of delivering or collecting messages, or performing other activities as instructed by the Cluster Manager / Project Manager.
Qualifications & Experience:
· Minimum of valid 3rd grade driving license.
· Safe driving record.
· Minimum of 5 years’ experience working as a driver, having a work experience in international non-governmental organizations will be added advantage.
· It will be added advantage to have experience of working in the specified duty locations of Oromia Regional State.
· At least a completion of Secondary School.
· Fluent Afaan Oromo and Amharic, and basic communication skills in English.
· Practical skills of basic automotive maintenance procedures and basic mechanics for petrol and diesel engines.
