Responsibilities:
The Energy Advisor for Solar Energy Technology will support the program office in the day to day activities in Renewable Energy in General and Solar Energy Technologies in particular. Specifically, in planning, implementation and monitoring of Solar Energy Technology development activities to which she/he is responsible as per agreed objectives, outputs, milestones and indicators defined in the program documents.
She/he is responsible to establish and build capacity of the region-wide networks of RE technology value chain actors in general and solar energy in particular (producers, BDS providers, distributers, market outlets, suppliers, etc.) from both private and the public sectors.
The incumbent has the following major responsibilities:-
· Facilitates the planning, implementation and monitoring of RE technology development processes and activities as per agreed objectives, outputs, milestones and indicators defined in the program documents;
· Coordinates the technology development, testing and adoption of the RE technologies, in general and solar energy in particular, in cooperation and collaboration with the federal and regional stakeholders;
· Maintains an overall good flow of communication and information between all involved staff and institutions;
· Document and share of all RE technology development processes, training aids, findings of research and studies for the program/project planning, implementation and knowledge management in general and solar energy technology in particular.
· Leads the solar technology development, in consultation with Renewable Energy Technology Department, in cooperation with the federal and regional stakeholders.
Within the context of the above mentioned responsibilities, she/he fulfils the following specific tasks in the solar energy interventions of EnDev ET.
§ Prepares and implements program / project interventions in a result-oriented and participatory manner by closely integrating efforts with other teams in EnDev ET, federal and regional partners;
§ Promotes local production, marketing and dissemination of improved energy technologies
§ Follows up the project monitoring system, updates information concerning the progress of the project, periodically documents and reports the results of the activities;
§ Takes part in the formulation of project action plans and facilitates synchronisation between the planning and budgeting system and with other sections;
§ Prepares and conducts training and other capacity building measures for individuals and institutions involved in collaboration with other EnDev ET team, federal and regional partners;
§ Takes part in business development services in RE technology field to which he/she is responsible for producers, promoters and marketers;
§ Initiates, prepares work on design, test and trial of different improved techniques and technologies and documents and shares the results;
§ Link solar energy developers and producers to micro and small enterprise agencies, business development service providers, micro-finance institutions and other support agencies, in collaboration with regional institutions;
§ Assists in the planning, coordination, and documentation of meetings, workshops, seminars and other activities of the project, focusing on the technical aspects;
§ Establish and build capacity of the region-wide networks of RE technology value chain actors in general and solar energy in particular (producers, BDS providers, distributers, market outlets, suppliers, etc.) from both private and the public sectors
§ Liaises EnDev ET with relevant institutions (public, private, national, international, NGOs / CSOs) and represents EnDev ET in meetings, workshops and conferences and other events in consultation with her/his supervisor;
§ Prepares activity plans that are integrated with other units and updates plans regularly
§ Assists assigned national and international consultants in related fields and as assigned by his/her supervisor;
§ Produces progress and professional reports with regard to RE technology development, focusing on the specific field of operation to which he is assigned;
§ Prepares articles on case studies and best practices for publication in EnDev ET magazines or other relevant journals;
§ Represents the interests and always acts on behalf of the EnDev ET program;
§ Undertakes duties in consultation and collaboration with other managers and experts / advisors at EnDev ET and partner institutions to ensure smooth communication, cross-fertilisation of knowledge, forging meaningful partnership and ownership, and alignment, harmonisation and effectiveness of development aid.
§ Assists and/or carries out other program / project activities and any other tasks as assigned.

Qualification and experience:
· Minimum of a BSc degree in solar energy engineering, electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, electro-mechanical engineering and related field;
· Minimum of five years work experience, typically the following solar energy related experience is required: Systems design, component specification, installation, supervision and training of different stakeholders, partners, private sectors and end users;
· Fluent in English, both written and oral;
· Excellent computer skills (MS Office, Engineering application software such as AutoCAD, renewable energy system analysis and optimization software), and others;
