ROLE PURPOSE:
The program manager is responsible for managing optimizing the health extension project activities which will build on the ICCM and MNCHN foundation created in Segen zone, and implementing optimizing the health extension project activities which will strengthen the capacity of the PHCUs as well as the HEWs. S/he will be responsible to provide technical and operational support in the overall implementation of the OHEP project and strengthening of CBNC/ICCM program, which contributes to the reduction of maternal, neonatal and under-five morbidity and mortality in Segen zone. S/he will liaise with and work in coordination with government and non-governmental partners in implementing the project activities; and will serve as the focal point for the project in regional level fora. S/he will also be responsible for establishing and maintaining working relationship with project partners to ensure synergy and maximize resources.
The position holder is expected to provide a consistent and high quality technical support in relation to health extension program. The incumbent will ensure cross functionality, coordination, standardization of program implementation for the project, quality of program are of nationally/internationally accepted and recommended standards. He/she represents SC values and principles in interactions with staff and external audiences. These values and principles include commitment to the mission of SC, team orientation, quality management and leadership development, introducing systems and procedures to strengthen staff motivation and productivity.
The program manager reports directly to the Programs and Operations Manager; and works within Konso Field office and Amaro Satellite Office. Furthermore the position requires representation of the project and SC at relevant Zonal and regional meetings.
Project Management and Technical Leadership:
Leads /coordinates program launch at regional and zonal level; supports project officers in the respective program launches.
Organize project advocacy and consultative workshop at zonal level about project objectives
Build capacity of the RHB and zonal health departments, the woreda health offices and health facilities of program target woredas to enable them successfully implement OHEP
Works closely with the RHB in the planning, implementation and monitoring of the overall OHEP activities.
Ensure capacity on planning, implementation, budgeting and program management for MNCH, and strengthening capacity and improving quality of care at regional and zonal level
Provide technical and logistics support to the Zonal Health Departments; coordinates and supports the conduct of joint supportive supervision to health workers at health centers and health extension workers at health posts.
Ensures that all trainings are of high standard and based on the national implementation plans.
Ensures that regular supportive supervision of HEWs and health facilities, and review meetings are as per the schedule and are coordinated with RHB led supervisions /review meetings
Supports demand creation activities through ensuring timely initiation and implementation of agreed upon activities
Provide technical advice on quality implementation of MNH service and creates synergy among/with other health and nutrition programs
