PROJECT: Food and Nutrition Technical Assistance III (FANTA)
SUPERVISOR: FANTA Nutrition and Infectious Diseases Technical Advisor

PROJECT DURATION: 02/08/2012 to 09/30/2017
FANTA works to improve nutrition and food security policies, strategies and programs through technical support to the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) and its partners, including host country governments, international organizations and NGO implementing partners. Focus areas for technical assistance include maternal and child health and nutrition, HIV and other infectious and non-communicable diseases, food security and livelihood strengthening, and emergency and reconstruction. FANTA develops and adapts approaches to support the design and quality implementation of field programs, while building on field experience to improve and expand the evidence base, methods and global standards for nutrition and food security programming. The project, funded by USAID, is a five-year cooperative agreement.
POSITION SUMMARY
Based in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia the Project Director manages FANTA’s technical assistance to USAID/Ethiopia and its partners, with a primary focus on direct technical assistance to Regional Health Bureaus with the implementation and management of nutrition assessment, counseling, and support (NACS) activities. The Project Director provides technical support to the transition and transfer of Food by Prescription activities to regional health bureaus. The Project Director will lead and direct the implementation process of the project. He/she will plan and direct project schedules and monitor budget/spending The Project Director will organize the project’s activities ensuring completion of the project on schedule and within budget constraints. The Project Director will work in close coordination with Washington-based FANTA Nutrition/Infectious Diseases cluster and will advise USAID/Ethiopia. In close coordination with FHI 360’s Office in Ethiopia, the Project Director will manage all administrative and financial aspects of FANTA operations in Ethiopia. He/she will select, develop and evaluate personnel to ensure the efficient operation of the function.
