Background
Micronutrient Initiative (MI) with the Federal Ministry of Health and other key partners has planned to design and implement a package of nutrition interventions that include Weekly Iron and Folic Acid Supplementation (WIFAS) and nutrition Education targeting nearly 800,000 adolescent girls’ age 10-19 years from 76 woredas within Amhara, Oromia, Tigray, SNNPR, Afar and Benishaneguel-Gumez Regions of the country for the coming 3-4 years. Since there is lack of program experience in adolescent girls’ nutrition in Ethiopia, MI will start the implementation of this package of interventions with a demonstration project in Chifra woreda ( Afar regional state) and Damotegale( SNNPRS) targeting nearly 20,000 adolescent girls’ age 10-19 years which represent the pastoralist and agrarian contexts, respectively.
For the implementation of the demonstration project, MI has signed grant agreement with the School of Public Health at Addis Ababa University College of Health Sciences, to implement the adolescent girls (age 10-19 years) weekly iron folate supplementation (WIFAS) and nutrition education package of interventions as demonstration project, and test the effectiveness and marginal cost of the program implementation through multiple practical delivery modalities. A research team composed of 4 researchers and 6 field research assistances will be actively involved in the demonstration research project. The Nutrition unit at the Department of Reproductive Health and Health Service Management School of Public Health will take the lead on the implementation of the demonstration project partnering with the demonstration project woredas’ responsible sectors and administration bodies using HEWs, health care providers, teachers and women development army as a sole service providers and facilitators for WIFAS and nutrition education in their respective catchment areas.
II. Objectives of the Technical Assistance through research assistances

A team of 3 researcher assistances (Woreda Research Coordinator, Woreda Monitoring and Reporting officer and Woreda Behavior Change Communication Officer) will be hosted by the Damotegale and Chifra demonstration project woredas and will be responsible for the following duties:
