The position: The International Centre of Insect Physiology & Ecology (icipe) seeks to hire a Communications Officer who will be a member of icipe Ethiopia office which is located at the International Livestock Research Institute (ILRI, Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.

Job Purpose:
Prepare and manage all communication and dissemination activities of the YESH and IPM projects.
Main Responsibilities:
Write publicity articles for the local and international media in Amharic and English languages on YESH and IPM activities and achievements to the general public through different media;
Prepare and manage the publication and dissemination of project training and extension materials in consultation with project scientists of both the YESH and IPM projects;
Assist the YESH and IPM projects in media, communication and dissemination of outputs;
Maintain the YESH and IPM projects’ websites, bimonthly newsletters and press releases;
Prepare project specific communication strategy for the IPM project;
Prepare photographic records of events, prepare project videos and document project activities in Ethiopia, Kenya and Tanzania for the IPM project;
Liaise with project partners and stakeholders on sharing audio-visual and printed communication materials;
Collaborate with icipe’s Head of Communication to liaise with project donors;
Liaise with science reporting journalists in each country to disseminating project information, news and outputs through different media.

Minimum Base salary:
Birr 20,180 per month (Negotiable depending on experience, skill and salary history of the candidate)
