Technical Assistant to regional implementing partners in Tigray, Amhara, Oromia and SNNPR on the implementation of Infant and Young Child Nutrition program

Background:
To support the health development plan of the country, the Micronutrient Initiatives (MI) has developed a Right Start program with emphasis on 1000 days that includes improved access and quality Infant and Young Child Nutrition (IYCN) program in Ethiopia. MI identified and prioritized package of IYCN intervention that are in line with the National Nutrition Program Plan. The project priority intervention includes; promotion of optimal Infant and Young Child Feeding practices, promotion of optimal complementary feeding practices through cooking demonstration, promotion on the use of Multiple Micronutrient Powders to address the micronutrient needs of children and promotion of growth monitoring services at the health posts for children 0 - 24 months. The Federal Ministry of health has emphasized to IYCN implementing partners including MI, to provide focus on the community level IYCF intervention and Joint supportive supervision to ensure quality program delivery. MI is committed to support the implementation of NNP IYCF initiatives focus areas to provide quality IYCF services. Hence the Technical Assistant will facilitate 1) orientation and planning of implementing partners at regions, 2) detail action plan development with implementing partners, 3) provide technical guidance to the implementing partners for quality IYCF interventions 4) identify program challenges and provide technical support to the implementing partners 5) create linkage with the regional, zonal and woreda health offices and 6) conduct supervision and monitoring of implementation.Objective of the Technical Assistant
The overall objective of the consultancy assignment is to provide technical support to the regional implementing partners for the successful implementation of Infant and Young Child Nutrition Programs in 80 woredas of four regions; Tigray Amhara, Oromia and SNNPR.
