Purpose of the role
To implement Unilever Quality Management Systems to ensure that products from own factory and third parties including imports are manufactured and delivered according to quality standards. To monitor and co-ordinate all Quality activities from receipt of materials analysis to in process and on line monitoring analysis to finished products analysis, enzyme in dust, enzyme in product analysis and monitoring to reports coordination and sending, finished products audit etc
Main Accountabilities
Ensures that Unilever products’ quality on-shelf conforms to Brand Quality Objectives and specifications and meets consumer and customer satisfaction.
Ensures that products are manufactured in accordance with hygienic microbiological standards.
Implements on-shelf product inspection through planned trade visits and establishes a link with the Customer Service Reps for periodic feedback on key quality issues observed during trade visits
Advises on the major contributing factors which cause defects and ensure they are addressed.
Carries out quality audits in factory
Provides inputs and/or review specifications, new formulation/packaging and quality contracts.
Investigates product incidents, customer and consumer complaints and follow up to resolve issues and/or implement actions.
Supervises sampling and testing of raw and packaging materials, work in process and finished products in accordance with Unilever standards and approved procedures.
Prepares daily, weekly and monthly product quality performance reports, and institutes corrective actions for non-conformities.
Ensures that laboratory activities are executed under recommended work instructions and safety procedures; places of work are safe and SHE instructions and rules strictly observed.
Responsible for establishing and maintaining QA/QC system within Factory.
Take decision on process policies related to Quality which includes Safety and Legal aspects.
Provides confidence in company’s product, appropriate auditing that measure effectively with world standards ensuring that it is applied.
Ensures raw materials, packaging materials & finished products are within specification both chemically and microbiologically and are strictly adhered to.
Online monitoring of manufacturing process and products.
Provides professional advice in out of specification situations.
Monitor activities of process laboratories.
Ensuring that HACCP and PPE systems are in place and strictly adhered to.
Ensuring Hygiene & GMP (Good Manufacturing Practice; as relevant to categories) are practiced at all times, ensuring world class standard.
Monitoring daily, weekly & monthly weight control using statistical analysis.
Waste control management ( Cost of Non Quality )
Implementing Audit recommendations for the factory.
Equipment / maintenance specification and calibration.
Monitoring of powder dust level and Enzyme activity in dust within factory.
Generation and circulation of monthly Dust & Enzyme activity in dust to company management,
Driving Quality Pillar in WCM in manufacturing areas.
Relevant Experience
University BSC degree in chemistry, industrial Chemistry,
8 years’ experience in a similar capacity
Process knowledge Should have a level of maturity and good safety judgment
