Context/Scope
Diageo is the world's leading premium drinks business with an outstanding collection of beverage alcohol brands across spirits, beer and wine acquired. Meta Abo Brewery Share Company SC (‘Meta Brewery’) in January 2012. From its brewery near the Ethiopian capital Addis Ababa, it produces and distributes its flagship national lager brands Meta and Meta Premium. The acquisition gives Diageo direct access to the Ethiopian beer market and will complement Diageo’s existing premium spirits business in the country. The company packaging lines produces our flagship brands Meta. The Packaging lines hold the most State of Art technology to package high volume and high pace, maximizing our production output to beat the competition. The packaging lines operations will include both packaging as well as technical activities and therefore shift leaders profiles have been designed to recruit for staff to manage the our operations on a 24 hour basis. |
Purpose of Role
Overall responsibility for the delivery of shift outputs, Maintenance, targets and goals by managing, leading and supporting shift team to produce to desired customer service, quality and yield levels in the most cost effective and efficient manner. To identify and drive improvement, ensuring delivery of dept. goals. To manage resource allocation, develop team members and optimise individual potential to contribute to overall site performance. |
Top Accountabilities
1. Commit to Occupational Health and Safety standards. Frequently state and articulate that Safety is our No.1 priority. Be visible as an ambassador for safety by behaving in a safe manner at all times and always challenging unsafe practices and behaviour of others, reprimanding where appropriate. Adhere strictly to the site safety rules and systems and equipment operational procedures. 2. Supervise, prioritise and coordinate all activities of shift team workers, including operational and project manage maintenance, people management and administrative tasks to ensure that all products required are produced to target volumes and specifications with best possible efficiencies and optimum KPI’s. 3. Control cost of packaging by minimising process waste, maximising efficiencies and taking appropriate actions to reduce downtime and improve quality. 4. Develop & deliver improved performance against targets through effective problem solving, decision-making and communication between shift teams, and aligned, planned activity with PPMS, Engineering support, customer services and supply planning. This includes championing manufacturing excellence and support delivery of manufacturing excellence initiatives. 5. Lead embedding of the company’s health, safety, quality, environment and hygiene standards for the protection of company products, staff and assets in the packaging environment. 6. Manage team’s individual performance and reward and training & development within clear improvement plans, using the BCM and CAP framework and PIP’s to drive performance and efficiencies towards world class standards. 7. Applying SAP, EISC (including RCPS) and quality management in combination with the standard work procedures 8. Adhere to real time SAP entry per shift as required by business standards. |
