SNV Netherlands Development Organisation is a not-for-profit international organisation founded in the Netherlands in 1965. In Ethiopia, it is active since 1974. Currently, we are making a lasting difference to the lives of the people in 310 woredas of Amhara, Oromia, Southern Nations Nationalities and People and Tigray regions. Aligning with the priorities of the Government of Ethiopia in agriculture, energy and water, sanitation and hygiene, we are implementing innovative solutions to increase people's income and employment opportunities in agriculture, as well as improving their access to basic services including water, sanitation and hygiene, and energy. SNV works with governments, financing and local development partners, businesses, knowledge institutes and low-income communities, so that together we can transform ideas into policy, policy into action, and action into results.
Horti-LIFE is a 3 year project (2016-2018) funded by the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands (EKN) and implemented by SNV Ethiopia (Dutch Development Organisation) in cooperation with the Ministry of Agriculture and Natural Resources (MoANR). It is part of the long standing Ethio-Dutch Horticultural Development Program. The aim of the project is to increase export and the food and nutritional security levels by supporting smallholder farmers in the horticulture sector.
The project works via four components:
• Access to markets for smallholder farmers
• Increase productivity and food safety
• Capacity building of universities and A-TVETS
• Enabling environment (support to MoANR)
Objectives of the Assignment
SNV Ethiopia is looking for qualified individual evaluators/ local capacity builders to provide an independent evaluation services on short term basis for project proposals received through the competitive announcement of Call for Proposal (CfP) for Smallholder Chain Integration Funding opportunities from eligible applicants. The main purpose of the assignment is to ensure that the proposals received in response to the Call for Proposal (CfP) are independently evaluated fairly, professionally and completely within the guidelines provided by SNV Ethiopia. The resulting deliverable will be an Evaluation Report indicating the scoring points and presentation, short-listed proposals and the reasoning behind the evaluation.
Skills and Qualifications
We are looking for interested individual consultants or evaluators with the following skills and qualifications:
- Track record in developing and conducting similar project proposal evaluation process
- Agriculture education background and /or experience in horticulture business
- Demonstrated understanding and experience of horticulture value chains
- Strong experience in smallholder inclusive business development
- Ability to write high quality, clear, concise proposal evaluation reports in English
