Strengthening of Ethiopia’s Urban Health Program (SEUHP) is a USAID funded five years Program implemented by John Snow, Inc (JSI). The goal of SEUHP is to improve the health status of Ethiopia’s urban population by reducing HIV/TB-related and maternal, neonatal and child morbidity and mortality and the incidence of communicable/non-communicable diseases (NCDs). The objective of the Program is to strengthen the government of Ethiopia’s Urban Health Extension Program (UHEP) and urban health by improving the quality, use and management of community-level urban health and related services. The goal of the Strengthening of Ethiopia’s Urban Health Program (SEUHP) is to improve the health status of the urban population in Ethiopia by reducing HIV/TB related and maternal and child morbidity and mortality and the incidence of communicable diseases.
Job Summary:
The Strengthening of Ethiopia’s Urban Health Program (SEUHP) is seeking to hire a highly qualified Senior IT Specialist. The Senior IT Specialist is a full time position based in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. The position’s responsibilities include to mange, maintain and administer the network infrastructure to provide input in the development and management of SEUHP operational database for Addis Ababa and regional offices in Bahir Dar, Hawasaa, Mekele, Harar and Dire Dawa. To provide training to all staff considering IT systems and security and to develop and implement IT policies. This position will report directly to the Operations Director. Duration of the contract will be for one year.
Specific duties and Responsibilities:
The Senior IT specialist’s specific duties and responsibilities include:
· Support staff with IT related problems in responsive and service oriented manner:
· Communicating problems with staff in order to capacity build;
· Setup, management and maintenance of IT related equipment:
· Monitor backup jobs and ensure high level of completion success rate
· Manage time and projects effectively
· Help out processes in place to maintain a stable network environment
· Develop IT policies and communicate with staff
· Training staff with IT related equipment and policy
· Assist the OD with project work to grow the technology infrastructure of the program( development of database)
· Assist with the troubleshooting ,installation and implementation of systems;
· Ensure data integrity with regard to our fixed asset inventories
· Provide input and recommendations to the program surrounding hardware and software technologies and how these technologies can assist the business being especially proactive with new technologies;
· Develop and monitor performance levels of software and hardware and evaluate recommend and propose alternative methods of information processing;
· Develop and maintain information architecture( data, application, network) ensuring the system is on line daily ;and
· Ensure staffs are utilizing equipment and network as per policy.
