Haramaya University is a national leader in agricultural training and research in Ethiopia, and the epicenter of outreach activities in agriculture and biodiversity in the country.
The university has recently won a competitive World Bank grant for establishing an African Centre of Excellence in Climate Smart Agriculture and Biodiversity Conservation (Climate SABC). The project is aimed at producing skilled human capital to tackle challenges posed by climate change through quality post-graduate training and research in partnership with universities across the Eastern and Southern Africa region as well as with institutions of higher learning other parts of the World. PhD and MSc students will be admitted mainly from African countries. The project also aims at enhancing and upgrading facilities pertinent to improve quality of education including field and laboratory facilities as well as ICT infrastructure.
To run the project activities, the university wishes to recruit and employ qualified personnel for the following vacant positions. The job descriptions and competency requirements for the positions are listed below:
The training and research head, in collaboration with the respective leaders of academic units of the College of Agriculture and Environmental Sciences and others as well as with project partners, is responsible for the smooth implementation of the PhD and MSc curricula and research programs of the ACE project; he/she shall plan academic and research programs and follow up their implementations; the incumbent shall coordinate teaching, learning and research including student admission, examination, grading, thesis supervision, etc; facilitates assignment of instructors and closely follows up the timely delivery of courses; reports issues related to academic and research programs of the ACE to the Deputy Center leader or the Center leader as required; in collaboration with the procurement and Finance officers, he/she is expected to facilitate installation and proper functioning of laboratory and field facilities.

Salary and Benefits
USD 18000 per annum subject to income tax deduction. Payment will be made in Ethiopian Birr based on the exchange rate at the time of transfer of the money from the donor.
