The Field Coordinator, reports to the Project Manager and is responsible for the implementation and local coordination of a multi-sectoral nutrition project: “Sustained Diet Quality Improvement by Fortification with Climate-smart, Nutrition-Smart Orange-fleshed Sweet potato in Southern Nations, Nationalities and Peoples’ Region (SNNPR), Ethiopia”. The Field Coordinator will be responsible for managing Extension Officers and overseeing community-level activities in order to achieve the project outputs in the best possible quality, within the given time frame and budget.
Main responsibilities:
o Design community-level activities in collaboration with the Project Manager and local partners.
o Suggest possible changes in activities based on project performance and achieving the desired outcomes
o Ensure an excellent working relationship with partners, local government and communities
o Strong coordination with all relevant offices
o Supervise, lead and build the capacity of the Extension Officers
o Adhering to PIN, government and donors’ policies.
o Internal reporting, tracking project progress
o Bachelors or equivalent degree in Human Nutrition, Public Health, Public Nutrition, Rural Development, Agriculture Extension or similar fields of study
o Experience of community-based nutrition or food security projects
o Experience of managing teams, strong coordination skills
o Experience of working with Farmer Training Centers and the Health Extension system will be an advantage, experience with agriculture systems, food chains welcomed, food fortification
o Excellent written communication skills and ability to use Microsoft Office (Word, Excel etc.)
o Excellent knowledge of spoken & written Amharic and English. Fluency in Sidamigna/Gedeo will be an advantage.
