Position Summary
The Ethiopian Director is responsible for the overall leadership and operations of the Selamta Family Project Ethiopian program.

Priority Tasks by Responsibility:
1. Program Leadership • Demonstrate the mission and vision of Selamta Family Project (SFP) by keeping the welfare of our families the first priority • Consider the question, “How will this affect our families?” before making a decision • Consider the overall impact to SFP as an organization while addressing immediate concerns and planning for the future • Participate in the mentorship of our youth and families • Eat dinner in a family home at least once a week
2. Staff Leadership • Inspire and motivate direct reports and overall SFP staff • Set expectations and hold staff accountable to their roles and responsibilities by following our staff performance guidelines and review schedule • Ensure consistent staff development by providing trainings and opportunities for staff to grow in their positions • Review and assess staffing levels to maintain a healthy balance of productivity and efficiency • Provide ongoing and scheduled performance feedback for all direct reports including annual performance appraisals, mid-year check-ins, coaching and corrective action
3. Organizational Leadership • Work in collaboration with the US team, board of directors and advisory teams • Supply necessary reporting to organizational leadership and ensure staff accurately record all program data through the vehicles provided • Ensure all designated financial targets and budgets are achieved
4. Strategic Partnerships • Represent SFP through conferences, workshops, speaking engagements and fundraising events • Collaborate with like-minded local and international NGO’s, schools, universities, vocational centers and other developmental entities who may be able to serve our families or SFP organizationally • Seek out new relationships for collaboration locally and internationally
5. Financial Management • Oversee the accounting and financial team of Ethiopian operations • Oversee all financial matters concerning the Ethiopian budget • Collaborate with organizational finance team to determine annual budget for Ethiopian program
6. Government Relations • Maintain all governmental documents, reports and project agreements to ensure the smooth operation of SFP in Ethiopia • Liaison between SFP and the Ethiopian government • SFP representative in all Ethiopian legal matters
Experience working with government agencies
Project management, delegation and follow-through skills
Experience leading a team with various responsibilities
Experience creating and managing budgets using Excel
Excellent English and Amharic communication skills - verbal and written
Experience using group data and communication tools - Google Drive, Salesforce.com
Minimum 5 years experience in the NGO sector or relevant experience
Executive leadership experience preferred
Masters level education preferred
