JOB SUMMARY
Under the direction of Growth through Nutrition Chief of Party (COP), the Finance and Donor compliance specialist work with Save the children international ‘s finance team to perform technical accounting, financial duties, and internal controls and organizes and controls the financial operation of the USAID funded Growth through Nutrition project. S/he ensures that financial regulations and controls are in place at all times such that the award is administered according to USAID regulations and policies for both Save the Children international and partners; work with Finance team to ensure that financial reports meet the required standards; develops and maintains timely and accurate reports; provides technical support to Growth through Nutrition field staff project in Amhara, Oromia, SNNPR, and Tigray supports local and international partners and facilitates any project and organizational audit and close out.
This position will work with the Save the children international ‘s award team to ensure that project team and partners meet the donor requirements including ensuring budget planning, monitoring, and reporting are delivered in a timely manner. He/she is responsible to monitor and build capacity of the project local NGOs partners. This requires close liaison with award and partnership and capacity building unit of finance. Liaison with Save the children US as the grant holder is also required in this post.
This post should collaborate closely with the Awards and Finance Units (Country Office) via the Growth through Nutrition ’s Awards Coordinator, Save the children US portfolio Awards Manager and Finance focal person to ensure high quality management of the award to achieve Save the children international ‘s finance and award KPI’s (key performance indicator) for the project and as per the agreement with USAID. The position is based in Addis Ababa, but with frequent travel (approximately 30% of her.

BA Degree in Accounting or relevant field from a recognized institution or other related field.
8 years of professional experience in grant compliance, auditing and financial management.
Experience in managing large USAID funded cooperative agreements with good knowledge of USAID rules and regulations.
Experience of award and finance management of international partner sub-agreements.
Knowledge and experience using various financial packages including SUN and Agresso systems.
Computer literate, particularly skilled in financial packages including SUN and Agresso, in awards management package Award Management System AMS, with fluency in Excel, Word, Power Point and internet usage.
Significant experience in financial monitoring, budgetary systems, and controls with strong analytical skills.
Proven ability to prepare budgets and donor financial reports.
Strong organizational, interpersonal, and time management skills while working in a dynamic, team setting in a challenging environment.
Willingness to travel extensively to multiple sites and provide capacity building for staff
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Ability and willingness to dramatically change work practices and hours and work with other teams, in the event of emergencies.
Demonstrated capacity and prior experience in supervising others as a coach/mentor to develop financial skills of colleagues.
Strong negotiation and interpersonal skills in English, with substantial experience in managing multicultural teams.
Ability to communicate effectively and work across departments, with demonstrated experience in integrated project activities.
Experience of building, leading and developing a team of senior staff with different backgrounds and expertise.
