Invitation for Consultancy Services – Gender Analysis
Background
Amref Health Africa is the largest African-led international health development organization headquartered in Nairobi, Kenya. It was founded in 1957 as the Flying Doctors of East Africa to bring critical health services to remote communities. With a vision ‘Lasting Health Change in Africa’, Amref Health Africa works to ensure every African can enjoy the right to health services by helping create vibrant networks of informed communities that work with empowered health care providers in strong health systems. Amref Health Africa partners with the Government of Ethiopia, Federal offices and Regional State Bureaus, and various local stakeholders to implement diverse health project portfolios throughout the country focusing on RMNCH, WASH, communicable and non-communicable diseases.
Amref Health Africa, as a lead organization, in partnership with Philips Healthcare Africa and Triggerise, will implement a four year program entitled ‘Improving Sexual and Reproductive Health Outcomes of Afari Adolescent and Youth’, in Afar Regional State. As part of the start-up plan, a gender analysis will be conducted in order to obtain to benchmark relevant performance monitoring indicators, review the theory of change and update project logframe based on the findings of the assessment.
Therefore, Amref Health Africa is inviting interested consulting firms or team of consultants to carry out a gender analysis for the program.
Scope of the consultancy:
· Design data collection methods, prepare data collection tools, pre test
· Prepare SOP for the data collection process
· Submit inception report
· Conduct data collection
· Prepare preliminary report
· Conduct validation workshop
· Final report

Requirement
· MSc/MA in social sciences, development studies, gender studies or relevant fields.
· Significant experience working in gender, monitoring and evaluation (gender analyses, baseline surveys, impact research, use of participatory techniques), and qualitative research and analysis,
· Renewed professional license for consultancy services,
· Outstanding data collection, research and writing skills,
· Proven track record on conducting gender analyses surveys/studies (at least two similar studies), including qualitative analyses,
· Knowledge of gender theory and gender equality issues within the country, preferably pastoralist communities,
· Knowledge of SRHR services, practices and challenges within the country, at community and facility levels.
· Excellent writing and speaking skills in both English and Afari,
· Strong communication, presentation, and facilitation skills,
