Addis Ababa, Country Office
Job Purpose:
The Monitoring and Evaluation Officer (M&E Officer) will be providing support in monitoring and evaluating on going projects on Amref Health Africa (MNCH). The incumbent will be responsible for overall M&E and learning needs of the project and will come up with findings based on real data to show performance of the projects. The incumbent will also help Amref Health Africa in strengthening its M&E functions based on her/his experiences from the project. M&E of the projects will be an assessment as well as support function hence the implementing partners and Amref programme teams will get support through M&E findings in enhancing flow of information and its management. The incumbent will play role in promoting of key learning’s for the improvement of the project and for wider leaning of the organization.
Main duties and responsibilities
· To supervise regular data collection through implementing partners and ensure quality of the data by random verification and validations
· To record, manage and preserve monitoring and evaluation data in a safe and accessible way
· To analyses and discuss findings based on regular monitoring data
· Provide technical support on M&E and evidence-based recommendations to the relevant Project Manager and Partners.
· Provide technical support projects and programs to improve the performance by generating evidences including best practice and lesson learnt
· To provide and participate in research generation and dissemination
· Ensure that implementation of field activities adheres to A monitoring and evaluation system
· Support partners in conducting baseline surveys, midterm and final evaluations
· Participate actively in programme planning process and budgeting of the programme quality and fundraising unit
· Support Project staffs and finance team in developing the annual and six monthly organizational reports.
· Support Project staffs and team in dealing with any other tasks as may be required

Job Requirements
· BSc preferably Masters degree in any health science (epidemiology, Demography) social(sociology) or statistics
· Knowledge and understanding of project monitoring and evaluation in public health
· Understanding of the of the current M&E trends and especially M&E systems in development organizations
· Knowledge of comprehensive knowledge of health related issues specifically RMNCH and WASH, Communicable and non-communicable disease prevention and control, challenges and opportunities
· Knowledge or EPI info, STATA, SPSS software
· Knowledge of participatory research methods, participation action and learning
· Knowledge of public health in Ethiopia
Experience
· Minimum three years’ experience in monitoring and evaluation and related project areas
· Experience in monitoring and evaluating SRH/RMNCH projects
· Experience of field data collection
· Experience of report writing
· Experience of conducting research
· Experience of organising lesson-learning sessions
Required Skills
· Monitoring and evaluation techniques and processes
