SNV has been working in Ethiopia since the 1970s and currently operates in the SNNPR, Oromia, Tigray and Amhara Regional states. It focuses on providing capacity building support in the area of agriculture, renewable energy and water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH).
OVERVIEW OF PROJECT BACKGROUND
The Expanded National Biogas Programme of Ethiopia (NBPE+) works to improve the living standards of farmers and their families, in Afar, Amhara, Benishangul- Gumuz, Gambela, Oromia, SNPPR, Somali and Tigray.
The programme targets construction of bio-digesters in 36,000 farmer households to take full benefits with use of biogas, primarily for cooking and with proper use of bio-slurry as a higher grade organic fertilizer to increase agricultural yields and to substitute chemical fertilizers. The programme will be implemented in partnership with the federal Ministry of Water, Irrigation and Electricity (MoWIE), the regional Energy Bureaus or Agencies and private sector, following the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) modality.

Basic Requirements
Qualifications and experience
· Min. masters or bachelor degree in economics, finance, business administration or related field.
· Min. 8 years of relevant working experience for master’s degree, or min. 12 years relevant experience for bachelor’s degree; preferably in areas of micro finance services or consultancy, or substantial experience in micro finance related projects/programmes;
· Possesses good knowledge and experiences of financial sector regulations, in general and micro finance sector regulations, in particular.
· Possesses good written and verbal skills in English and Amharic;
· Able and willing to frequently travel in rural areas without basic amenities;
· Has client and team oriented attitude and perseveres in complex and challenging task environment.
● Possesses recognized expertise in process facilitation. In addition, should have experience with giving expertise advice in complex situations;
● Possesses experience in the area of strategic management and partnership development;
● Experience in renewable or alternative energy sector in Ethiopia will be an added advantage.
● Possesses skills in participatory methodology, coaching, learning and team building;
● Has advocacy, networking, lobbying and knowledge brokering skills;
● Has passion for systemic change and inclusive development with contextualized solutions and local ownership;
● ready to work and travel in rural areas with minimal amenities;
· Possesses or quickly learns and practices the core characteristics required in an SNV advisory service.
