Amref Health Africa would like to recruit a Project Assistant for its Spanish Agency for International Development Cooperationsupported project on Ways to improve resilience: addressing food crises through access to water, agricultural production and risk prevention in zone 3 of the Afar regional state.
The job holders will be based in zone 3 of the Afar regional state and reports to Project Manager.
Purpose of the Job:
The main purpose of the job is to facilitate and provide technical support for the implementation of Amref Health Africa in Ethiopia’s WASH project which mainly focuses on WASH addressing food crises through access to water, agricultural production and risk prevention. She/he will report to the Project Manager to implement the project in Afar.
Key Responsibilities:
· Develop a work plan that includes objectives and deliverables
· Ensure implementation of the project in collaboration with the government stakeholders and beneficiaries.
· Provide targeted technical assistance to projects through field visits.
· Ensure project implementation in line with Amref Health Africa’s organizational objective and government policy, strategies and guidelines.
· Planning and Facilitation of timely procurement of goods and services for projects;
· Prepare and submit timely the monthly, quarterly, biannual and annual quality reports to the project manager.
· Prepare work plan and cash advance request
· Work with the project accountant, M and E Officer and procurement officers to ensure efficiency and effectiveness in resource utilization.
· Actively participate in operations research, evaluations and assessments
· Organize and participate in review meetings, forums with partner meetings
· Gather, compile and disseminate case stories from the field
Job Requirements
· BSC/BA degree in water resources and or hydraulic engineering, environmental health, rural development and other related fields
EXPERIENCE
· At least 4 years of relevant experience in WASH and/livelihood preferably in pastoralist context.
· Practical experience in construction of water supply schemes
· Experience in working with community/associations, technical support, facilitating seed money provision and follow up.
· Experience in hygiene and sanitation promotion approaches like CLTSH and others
· Hands-on experience in working with rural communities, pastoralist context experience is advantageous
Competencies:
· Proficiency in MS applications and navigating the internet
· Fluency in English, Amharic, knowledge of Afar language is a plus
· Strong communication skill- listening, oral and report writing skill
