Community mobilization officer based at woreda health officer is responsible for the management of the emergency nutrition response activities, at, Woreda and health facility at large in community levels.
The community mobilization officer is expected to improve community assessment, community sensitization, active case finding, follow, ongoing mobilization implementation; monitoring and reporting processes as they relate to Emergency nutrition response project activities. The incumbent works closely with the government structure and other zonal/filed office and woreads
based nutrition team members of Emergency nutrition response and related programs to ensure program integration at all level.
The position holder will provide emergency nutrition and health related technical support at Woreda and community level to ensure the quality implementation of the project activities. S/he is responsible to strengthen Woreda and community level nutrition and health related meeting and forum. He/she ensures efficient and timely mobilization of community for best utilization of the ongoing services. He/she expected to exert their maximum level of participation on the community level forum and meeting to create sustainable platform for tacking malnourished children in community before they developed complication.
Under the overall coordination and close technical and managerial supervision of the project coordinator, the job holder will ensure high quality CMAM implementation within the project, provide proper and quality care to all beneficiaries, respecting national protocols, sphere standards and principles of good practice.
The Community Mobilization Officer provides support in the implementation, organization, follow-up and reporting of community mobilization activities of the CMAM program in close collaboration with the Zonal health department and Woreda heath offices and SCI Officers. She/he implements and supervises the activities in the communities to strengthen and maximizing coverage and access of CMAM, TSFP, IYCF and WASH activities for the community.
KEY AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY:
Organize sensitization meetings with community leaders, village heads, community elders, traditional leaders
Undertake community mapping and other similar exercises; and Promote integration of CMAM/TSFP activities.
Ensure and support the health facilities with active case findings, absent tracing, defaulter tracking & follow-up progress at community level.
Conduct regular/refresher trainings for HDAs, FDA on CMAM, TSFP, IYCF and WASH
Ensure that the HDAs, and FDAs identifies active SAM cases in the community and refer them to the nearest health facilities
Participate actively in CMAM, TSFP, IYCF and WASH activities in the community.
Ensure that IYCF mother support groups are formed according to the plan; and Set up regular health education sessions in the community in consultation with key nutrition staff
Regular follow up with the CMAM and TSFP Officers to identify the absentees at the health facility level
Strengthen the referral linkage of community Health development agents to HF with appropriate format for SAM management
Work closely with the HDAs, FDAS to plan and organize regular home visits to the children who are absent from the program therapeutic food

Minimum of first degree in Nutrition, public health or Sociology , Public health in education
At least with a minimum of 3 – 5 years of experience in outreach, communications, advocacy, community mobilization, and behaviour change.
KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITY
Significant training experience (e.g. Community mobilization, CMAM IYCF, Coaching and mentoring, and WASH related etc) with community mobilization in support of Health and WASH related programs.
Experience in conducting trainings, training of trainers, and organizational capacity building is an asset for community and health care professional.
Ability to work under pressure, in hardship environment
Motivated and enthusiastic, organized and with good critical thinking
Demonstrated skills in partnership building and interpersonal communication.
Excellent and demonstrated skills in computer Microsoft office applications: Word, Excel, PowerPoint and outlooks, emails
Excellent in report writing skills
Previous NGO experience in a similar setting
Knowledge of other local languages pertinent to the area of responsibility
Able to work independently in a high-stress and high-risk environment with shifting priorities
