John Snow, Inc/Strengthening Ethiopia’s Urban Health Program is looking for an Evaluation Research Assistants for the Implementation Research Initiative for Accelerating Scale-up of Kangaroo Mother Care (KMC). In partnership with Harvard T. H. CHAN School of Public Health and Addis Ababa University Schools of Medicine and Public Health, the KMC research initiative will study the implementation of KMC by gaining an understanding of barriers and potential facilitators, and using data in repeated rapid cycles of model development-implementation-evaluation-refinement until a promising model is found to achieve high coverage of quality KMC. We will work within the existing government health system and the Oromia Regional Health Bureau to implement the models with the goal of providing KMC to 80% or more of the target population of newborns, aiming to reduce mortality associated with preterm birth.
The Evaluation Research Assistants, under the guidance of the Evaluation Coordinator and program manager, will be responsible for high quality data collection for program evaluation. The Research Assistant will be consenting participants and collect data using standardized data collection forms. The Evaluation Research Assistants will be based in Arsi Robe, Oromia region.
