JOB PURPOSE:
The Programme Manager (Consortium Coordinator) Responsible for the overall implementation of the consortium based ECHO funded drought emergency response project (focus – WASH, EFSVL and Health & Nutrition) in Southern Somali region (Doolo, Afder and Shebele Zone) of Ethiopia facilitating high level planning, coordination and management of the Consortium enabling it to deliver successful results of the ECHO Action. In addition, the role will also include overall management of Oxfam’s OFDA and GAC funded drought response projects in Doolo, Afder, Fafan and Jarar Zone of Somali region.
It is to be noted that the funding for this post is yet to be approved (very high likely) and the recruitment of this post will be subject to project approval by the donor.
Background
Oxfam has been working in Ethiopia since 1974, devoted to empowering people against poverty. In 2015-16, the organisation consolidated its efforts to meet the needs of the most vulnerable and has reached close to one million people across Ethiopia with life-saving humanitarian assistance. Oxfam’s Humanitarian programme currently operates through 3 field bases in Jijiga, Dire Dawa and Gambella and getting prepared to open three new satellite offices in remote field locations as part of its ongoing drought response. The development team currently operates in Oromia, Amhara, Tigray and Somali region.
Oxfam is currently responding to drought in Ethiopia following its response strategy (Programme Focus WASH and EFSVL with gender and cross protection as cross cutting) having ambition of benefitting 700,000 people with a total budget of 14 Million GBP. As part of Oxfam’s drought response programme, it is leading a ECHO funded project in consortium with Save The Children International and Islamic Relief Ethiopia. The ECHO project is planned to be implemented in Doolo, Afder and Shebelle Zone. In addition, Oxfam is also implementing OFDA and GAC funded drought response project in Doolo, Afder, Jarar and Fafan Zone.
