About the project
JSI Research & Training Institute, Inc. seeks to recruit health information system professionals, as well as finance and administrative staff for its Data Use Project (DUP).The goal of the project is to improve collection and use of high-quality routine information; improve the quality, efficiency, and availability of primary health, and nutrition services at all levels of the Ethiopian health system. JSI Research & Training Institute, Inc. (JSI) is a public health management consulting and research organization dedicated to improving the health of individuals and communities throughout the world.
Summary of Responsibilities
Under the direct supervision of the Project Director (Deputy Director), the Finance & Operations Director (FOD) will be responsible for overseeing all operational aspects of the project and ensuring that the Ethiopia project office has sound financial, contractual and administrative operating systems, and that all activities are conducted in compliance with the terms of the grant. He/ she will oversee finance and subcontract management and will collaborate with the Project Director (or Deputy Director), National Technical Specialist, and Regional Technical Specialist and other members of the management team to ensure that all activities are implemented in a timely and effective manner and in compliance with BMGF requirements.
The FOD will serve as the focal person for all budget and disbursement processes of the JSI field office. The FOD will coordinate and liaise with JSI/ HQ in DC on all financial matters related to the JSI field office, local and international sub-recipients and sub-grants. The FOD will be a resource for all JSI projects in Ethiopia and is expected to communicate and coordinate with other JSI projects when necessary.
Specific Responsibilities
Education
Master’s degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Financial/Project Management or related fields or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
Experience
Minimum 8 years of experience in related field with Master’s Degree or minimum 10 years of experience in related field with Bachelor’s Degree
Demonstrated knowledge, skills and/or experience in accounting with supervisory experience;
Well versed in accounting packages, preferably in QuickBooks, Microsoft Office packages (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and experience in working with donor programs
Language Proficiency
Fluent in written and spoken English and Amharic
