Nuru International Ethiopia is a US-based international NGO working to end extreme poverty in remote rural communities in Ethiopia. Nuru is currently implemented integrated development projects in Gamo Gofa Zone, SNNPR. Areas of intervention include Agriculture, Rural Livelihoods Diversification, Healthcare and Education. All four thematic areas work through local Grain Marketing Cooperatives. Currently, Nuru Ethiopia employs approximately 80+ staff at its headquarters in Arba Minch, and project offices in Boreda and Kucha Woredas.
We are currently seeking qualified candidates for the position of Senior Human Resources Officer. The Sr. HR Officer will report directly to the Finance & Admin Director and will be in charge of coordinating all HR services and providing administrative support to human resources functions as needed. The position holder will advise the Nuru Ethiopia SLT on attracting and retaining best talent.

Terms and conditions: The appointment will be for short-term fixed employment based on annual contract extensions depending on performance
Main duties and responsibilities:
Responsible for all human resource matters within Nuru Ethiopia (NE)
In collaboration with an external HR consultant, review and adjust existing HR manuals and policies particularly with regards to HR organization structure, job descriptions, staff compensation/benefits and talent management
Coordinate recruitment and selection process, induction, onboarding and training of all new hires
Coordinate performance evaluation process (from setting performance targets, monitoring and evaluating performance)
Conduct regular market assessments and benchmark against other competitive organizations
Analyze and recommend salary adjustments and/or benefit packages modifications
Update different personnel management policies as required
Address different employee complaints and problems and propose well-thought solutions to the respective Directors/Managers
Ensure that the company’s HR policies and regulations are properly reinforced and comply with different national laws and statutory requirements to ensure NE optimizes the use of its resources toward ending extreme poverty
Manage employment contracts, maintain proper employee records and produce periodic HR reports as required.
Ensure staff payroll (earnings and deductions) is processed in a timely and consistent manner in conjunction with Finance Department.
Ensure proper management of different kinds of leaves.
Work with Nuru International’s US-based HR counterpart to ensure HR systems and policies are transparent, efficient and compatible with best practices in the industry.
Advise and report to Admin & Finance Director on all above matters and carry out any additional tasks as instructed by the Director

Job Requirement
Qualifications:
BA degree in Human Resources or Management or other related fields. Master’s preferred.
Minimum 5 years experience in HR functions (recruitment, induction, benefit administration, policy/manual preparation etc.) out of which at least 2 years in an NGO setting.
Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel and PowerPoint)
Fluency in spoken and written Amharic and English
Desired skills and attributes:
Proven ability to think critically about issues and show required empathy and objective judgment to tackle internal conflicts and address staff-related issues
Excellent interpersonal communication, negotiation and problem-solving skills required
Experience in understanding and implementing HR systems and policies.
Structured, organized with the ability to multi-task and support other people under stressful conditions.
Attention to detail and ability to follow procedures, and work both independently and cooperatively with team members.
