Plan International Ethiopia is looking for Child Protection in Emergency Specialist to be based at Country Office
The Role
Raising and also managing up to 4 million USD per year from diversified donors. Liaising with government ministries, offices and bureaus at federal and regional levels and also with UN agencies, NGOs and other civic organizations. Has responsibility to comply with organizational and statutory policies and laws on HR legality matters and also on matters related to protection of children in gender and child rights in particular in emergencies and disasters. Represents Plan Ethiopia in humanitarian coordination meetings, taskforces, clusters and technical working groups in CPiE and CP policy matters
She/he ensures integration as well as smooth teamwork within the Program Area and across other program Units. Key components of the position also include strategic planning and implementation of program operation, advocacy and networking, maintaining an agile and effective organization, staff management and development, child protection and gender equality.
To be successful, B.A/BSc. in Psychology, Sociology, Social Work or LLB degree in Law or other related fields of study. M.A. /MSc. Is preferable. At least 5 years of progressive work experience in the area of child protection and child. Willingness to travel extensively up to 40% of his/her time
Knowledge/Skills, qualification and experience to Achieve Role’s Objectives
Experience in conducting rapid assessments related to child abuse, child neglect, exploitation etc. at local level using participatory tools, desk review, studies, assessments and surveys
Strategic thinking, analysis and leadership with good problem solving skills
Ability to work at macro/national level in influencing policies and practices affecting children and also at community level in coordinating and leading local level response with long term perspective
Strong analytical, writing, communication & interpersonal skills, and also computer literate
Advanced skills, reputable experience in writing concept notes, proposals and reports
Ability to develop innovative approaches and strategies
Able to manage multiple and complex tasks within a deadline-focused environment
Ability to keep abreast of developments in the humanitarian sector related with child right, child protection and development and ensure their dissemination within PIE
Strong analytical, writing, communication & interpersonal skills, and also computer literate
Skills and knowledge in team building & team leadership/management

Proven management experience in similar organizations with humanitarian focus
Excellent knowledge and understanding of the external operating environment
Self-starter, enthusiastic & proactively engaging with limited external support

Able to work with multidisciplinary team sometimes under difficult circumstances and using extra time including weekends
Child friendly, respectful and fully committed to enforcing child right conventions and laws
