HelpAge International is a global network of more than 113 organizations in 75 countries. As the world’s leading organization dedicated to promoting the wellbeing and inclusion of older women and men as well as reducing poverty and discrimination in later life, HelpAge envisions a world in which all older people can lead dignified, healthy and secure lives. HelpAge has been working in Ethiopia since 1992 in the areas of health and HIV & AIDS, emergency response and disaster risk management, social protection, livelihoods and care and support, as well as building the capacity of older people associations.
HelpAge International is currently responding to the needs of drought affected population in selected woredas of Borena Region and Rift Valley. As part of emergency response program, we NCA would like to invite interested applicants for the following position:
Background
HelpAge International is the secretariat to the HelpAge Global Network, which brings together a wide range of organizations and individuals working to promote the rights and meet the needs of older women and men, nationally and/or internationally. Our long-term vision is to establish a global movement of strong connected age focused and older people led platforms in every country in the world. We aim also to ensure older men and women are able to address their needs during humanitarian crisis.
Following the recent famine crisis in the southern and south eastern Ethiopia, HelpAge’s Ethiopia office through its borena and Ziway field offices, is delivering drought response interventions to address the immediate food, nutrition and livelihoods needs for older women and men in the affected areas. HelpAge Ethiopia office is therefore seeking for an Emergency Project Coordinator responsible for managing and coordinating the project in the two field offices (Ziway for rift Valley and Borena).
Job purpose
To lead the implementation, monitoring and evaluation of the emergency response project of HelpAge International in Borana, to play a leading role in promoting and representing the HelpAge humanitarian programme and principles to key internal and external audiences, and to ensure timely reporting against HelpAge corporate Emergency strategy and indicators.
