POSITION SUMMARY:
Following the award from USAID for Pastoralists Areas Resilience Improvement and Market Expansion (PRIME) supplementary funding on the emergency response on destocking and vet voucher, Mercy Corps Ethiopia country programme requires a talented, dynamic and efficient full time Finance Officer for a period of six months on temporary contract.
The post holder must be very well organized, meticulous, attentive to details, multi-tasking, meet deadlines, good organizing skill of financial vouchers/files, well experienced on donor compliance and sub grantee management. Due to the nature of work, the post holder is also expected to be flexible and have the ability of managing Matrix Reporting need. The post holder is also expected to be familiar with entertaining various data/document requirements for internal and external audit purposes and make follow up on sending documents for A-133 Audit purpose and other similar donor audit needs or local statutory audit needs.
Working under the direction of the central finance unit (CFU in Addis Ababa), and PRIME Finance Manager, the finance officer will be responsible on the day to day routine tasks of the emergency response on destocking, vet voucher, cash transfer to Micro Finance Institutes, and others. She/he is expected to produce reliable, accurate and timely financial report/information, documentation for all stake holders involved in. Due to the nature of emergency response, the post holder should be critical thinker and fast responder to issues in the most appropriate way.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
· Five years and more progressive experience in the non-profit organization and mainly experience gained in the INGO is required.
· Diploma/Degree in Accounting from a recognized institute. Compensating Education + Experience can be considered.
· Demonstrated competency with computerized general ledger software
· Advanced computer skills in MS Office programs, particularly in Excel
· Prior management experience and strong organizational skills
· Meticulous in Data mining and presenting
· Excellent oral and written English skills
SUCCESS FACTORS:
· Must be confident, self-starter, an independent thinker and have strong organizational, interpersonal and communication skills; team oriented
· Good computer skills (especially Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook)
· Ability to interact effectively with international and national personnel; demonstrated ability to work effectively with diverse group of people is required.
· High professional standard of administration ethics as well as willingness and ability to enforce compliance with Mercy Corps and donor policies and procedures is essential.
· Demonstrated ability to multi-task, meet deadlines and process information in support of changing program activities is necessary
· Excellent communication skill in English, written and oral is required.
· Demonstrated cultural sensitivity and appropriate flexibility.
· Emotional maturity and physical stamina.
· Demonstrated experience in managing Matrix Reporting need
· Willing to travel to Mercy Corps field offices when needed about 60% of the time
