BACKGROUND
Southern nations, nationalities and peoples’ region (SNNPR) regional health bureau (RHB) with technical assistance from The Last Ten Kilometers (L10K2020) project has planned to improve the capacity of MNCH team along with improving the problem solving skills of its team members. In turn, the regional and zonal team members are expected to support catchment area based mentorship platforms to improve providers’ skills in key reproductive, maternal, newborn and child health (RMNCH) areas and introduce processes that will improve service quality for the selected RMNCH services. The catchment area based mentorship will happen between General hospital and primary hospital as well as between primary hospital and health center as mentor and mentee, respectively, for a defined period of time. SNNPR RHB through technical assistance from L10K2020 will like to higher senior RMNCH advisor.
OVERVIEW OF THE POSITION
The Senior RMNCH Advisor will provide technical and strategic leadership support to the SNNPR RHB and contribute to the strategic direction of RMNCH programs by providing technical guidance to the RHB and zonal health departments (ZHDs) RMNCH program officers and zonal level RMNCH technical assistances (TAs) and support the overall management for the implementation of RMNCH programs with the goal of contributing towards Ethiopia’s RMNCH effort and ultimately post MDG RMNCH targets. The Senior RMNCH Advisor will work closely with the SNNPR RHB RMNCH team, SNNPR Regional L10K2020 office, ZHDs, and other RMNCH supporting partners.
DURATION: ONE YEAR WITH POSSIBILITY OF EXTENSION
KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
· Provide technical leadership for the RHB on reproductive, maternal, newborn and child health program.
· Support the RHB and zonal RMNCH technical team to ensure that they have improved their technical capacity and in turn provide support for the woreda level RMNCH team.
· Lead catchment area based mentoring by providing both technical and managerial role, on key RMNCH process including CEMONC, BEMONC, an effective referral system, essential newborn care, ICMNCI, neonatal intensive care, post-partum FP service (PPIUD and implants), FP counseling and CRC are streamlined through the catchment area based mentoring to improve quality and client care.
· Along with regional and zonal staff lead and coordinate support zones facility and Woreda that a continuous quality improvement system is in place in these sites.
· Work with zonal and facility management to support them in ensuring the facilities work towards good management of supplies, drugs and infection prevention standards and ensure at the end of the process the support spreads horizontal for health center to health center and hospital to hospital support.
· Support other related activities when deemed necessary by her/his supervisor.
