In Ethiopia, GIZ has been working for more than 40 years in bilateral cooperation on behalf of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) and on commission of the Ethiopian government and international donors. For its Strengthening Drought Resilience (SDR) program activities in Semera Region, GIZ is looking, for:
Job Title: Livelihood Team Leader

Responsibilities The job holder ·Coordinate the regional GIZ-SDR Livelihood activities · Guidance, coordination and supervision of the Regional GIZ-SDR Livelihood Team · Represent GIZ-SDR in Livelihood related activities at regional and zonal platforms and committees Tasks · Supervise and coordinate regional GIZ-SDR project activities in the area of biological SWC, agronomy, WASH and CBO; · Ensure integration and coordination of Livelihood activities with the projects Participatory Land Use Planning and Engineering Teams; · Support the Bureau of Pastoral and Agricultural Development in coordination of project related activities in biological SWC and Livelihood including networking activities with other development partners; · Plan and schedule all Livelihood team activities on regional level in accordance with relevant project documents and conjunction with partner ·Coordinate and follow-up progress and issues in GIZ-SDR Livelihood project implementation; · Ensure timely submission of quarterly progress and other reports as may be required by the Federal or Regional GIZ-SDR project offices and/or BoPAD; · Facilitate and support the proper implementation of monitoring and evaluation activities as defined by the GIZ-SDR Planning, Monitoring and Evaluation Team; ·Identify and validate Human Capacity Development (HCD) needs of GIZ SDR Livelihood team members and partner institutions; ·Follow up on HCD measures for Livelihood team members and partners in coordination with federal GIZ-SLM Management; Competences: · Basic knowledge on project cycle management; · Excellent communication skills to handle stakeholders with different interest, · Capability of concise and coherent reporting along standard formats; ·Solution orientation; ·Proven track record as Trainer for practical and theoretical sessions. ·Good English language skills, both written and oral; · Ability to read and speak Afar language is an advantage; · Excellent computer skills esp. Microsoft Office;

Qualifications and Experience
· Masters or Bachelor degree in natural resource management, Agronomy and/or rural development;
·A minimum of 5 years practical field experience of working in applied agronomy. NRM and participatory approaches in rural communities;
· Experience in application of participatory approaches;
·Experience in formation of community based institutions;
· Experience in working with pastoral and agro-pastoral communities, preferably in Afar region,
