JOB SUMMARY:

The Education Project Officer has expected to be aware of the Regional Education Policies, Strategies, and Education Sector Development Programs (ESDP) V, ECCE and particularly the primary education policy frameworks. S/he should have good knowledge of equity and quality issues of primary education in the region.
The officer plan, budget, implement, monitor and report on the “Children on the Move” project for ECCE and primary grades children in Dita Wereda, Gamo Gofa Zone of SNNPRS. S/he has expected to provide technical support to facilitators, teachers, and other relevant government partners in project intervention areas (Gamo Gofa Zone and Dita Woreda) for smooth and effective implementation of the project.
S/he is responsible for documenting best practices and case stories that would help for sharing achievement of the project to others and scaling up innovative ideas in other areas in the Zone, Region as well as in the Country. S/he will document relevant data for substantiating narrative report. S/he has also expected to liaise with communities, local authorities, other agencies and education projects regularly to ensure coordination, collaboration and effective implementation of activities of the project.
KEY AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY:
2.1 Key Functions:
Prepare detailed implementation plan and budget for the project for the intervention area s/he is assigned,
Implement all project activities according to the objectives and indicators set out in the project document and time frame,
Provide overall guidance to facilitators and teachers in the project area based on the project document, to implement activities that promote messages on risk of unsafe child migration and on retain children at risk of migration at school,
Implement the project budget in consultation with Education Program Coordinator and Child Protection Program Coordinator,
Update project progress to Education Program Coordinator directly in time, including gaps/challenges and achievements,
Create synergy between school based education programs with child protection programs implemented by MCDP,
Work in collaboration with project implementing partners and other stakeholders,
Prepare and submit regularly project required reports timely and accurately,
Undertakes additional assignments, as needed, pertinent to successful completion of the project.
2.2 Specific Duties and Responsibilities:
2.2.1 Planning
Prepare detailed work plan (monthly, quarterly, annually) and estimate budget for the project with reference to project document,
Prepare and conduct facilitators, teachers and school community training messages on unsafe migration,
Develop and communicate project monitoring plan with facilitators, teachers, parents/care givers, pertinent government stakeholders and line manager,
Prepare and communicate procurement plan related to projects activity, ahead of time,
Assess and identify the needs and gaps of the respective target schools based on the assessment tools,
2.2.2 Implementing project activities:
Facilitate and/or provide training to facilitators, teachers and school community on project related activities,
Provide technical support to project implementing partners and schools including coaching to facilitators, teachers and school communities ahead of problems take place which hinders implementation of the project,
Work closely with WEO and other government offices and project implementing partner,
Represent Save the Children in relevant Zone and/or Woreda forums, technical discussions and meetings in the knowledge of line manager,
2.2. 3 Monitoring
Ensure the delivery of purchased materials to target beneficiaries and its proper usage,
Ensure appropriateness of selected beneficiaries according to the selection criteria set,
Follow up of clubs activities accomplishment according to the project objective,
Facilitate and participate in data collection related to different assessment, baseline and end line survey for the project;
Using appropriate M&E framework and tools, periodically monitor the status and progress of achievement of the projects activities in target schools,
Follow up of cascading of different trainings at school level,
2.2.4 Reporting
Collect, document and report relevant data and case stories on the project achievement,
Prepare periodic and quality reports, for submitting stakeholders and partners,
Collect complaints from beneficiaries and schools, insert facts on respective database and forward the action take to line manager,
Prepare and submit feedbacks for reports from target schools,
Produce case and success stories and share to line manager every quarter,
2.2.5 Child Safeguarding and other KPIs:
Provide orientations on Child Safeguarding for facilitators, teachers and school communities, education experts, project beneficiaries and for other stakeholders,
Ensure timely reporting of any suspected/concerns on fraud and child safeguarding issues;
Ensure timely reporting of the security situations in program implementation area;
Ensure child participation in project monitoring and evaluation through invitation for meetings, joint supervision, trainings, workshops, . . . .etc,
Ensure complaint are appropriately received and responded timely,
Ensure consistent reporting of any humanitarian situations in project implementation area,
