VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT
As a registered charity, founded in 1979, Action Against Hunger operates in 37 countries. The international network of Action Against Hunger is represented in Paris, London, Madrid, Montreal, and New York. Teams in the field combat hunger on 4 fronts: nutrition, food security, health, water, and sanitation.
For our WaSH department in East Hararghe - Bedeno and Sekota, we are currently looking for the following professional:
Construction Supervisor
Work Base: East Hararghe - Bedeno and Sekota
Availability: As Soon As Possible
Project Duration: definite period
General Assignment:Objective 1: Participate in defining new construction operations:
Ø Participate in targeting villages and selecting locations for construction ;
Ø Collect the GPS data of new structures ;
Ø Make situation drawings ;
Ø Computerize construction designs using CAD.
Objective 2 Ensure implementation of the activities defined by the WASH Program Manager
Ø Prepare detail BoQ, rate analysis, construction work plan
Ø Prepare the planning, coordinate and supervise the work on the worksites with well-organized field level implementation strategy
Ø Lead in selecting the local construction materials;
Ø Ensure proper use of equipment and their consumption ;
Ø Prepare work orders and check supplies;
Ø Calculate the consumption of construction materials ; and facilitate the request for the supplies to avoid interruption of construction activity
Ø Check the quality of construction as per the specification and design drawings ;
Ø Record in a report the precise characteristics of each construction site: design, bill of quantity, etc.
Ø Write weekly activity reports and transmit them to the WASH Program Manager
Ø Make water safety plan, water quality testing and sanitary survey
Ø Manage the constructions material supply, record and proper utilization and storage at the project locations.
Ø Calculate the work volume accomplished and prepare payment certificate for the labour contracts.
Ø Facilitate the skilled and none skilled labourers monthly salary payment and provide the payroll data to HR
Objective 3: Supervise the project team:
Ø Participate in the technical recruitment of the project team ;
Ø Elaborate the content of the required training and organize it ;
Ø Train the construction team ;
Ø Check the quality of the work performed ;
Ø Organize the work of the team: optimize distribution of tasks according to the team members’ potentials.
Ø Manage the field construction skilled (Forman, Masson, Plumber, Bar bender, Carpenter…) and none skilled team as required.
Ø Respect confidentiality regarding the content of discussions during assessments
Educational / Professional Background: Degree in Hydraulics /Water resource/ Civil Engineering
Required Competence & Skills: : Analytical mind and global approach – Capable of supervising a team – organizational skills – Diplomacy – Relational qualities – Flexibility – Dynamism – Creativity – Computer skills – Knowledge of English, AUTO CAD, EPANET software.
