Position Summary:
SNV is currently seeking applications from qualified candidates for a Senior Market Systems Specialist position on an anticipated Sida funded programme “Livelihoods Improvement for Women and Youth in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia-(LI-WAY Addis Ababa)”. The programme will be implemented by a consortium partners with SNV as a lead and including MercyCorps, TechnoServe and Save the Children International for five years. The programme aims to improve the livelihoods of 200,000 poor people with a focus on youth and women by increasing their income through improved access to economic opportunities. The programme will achieve this through activating, catalyzing and promoting market-based solutions to address systemic constraints that undermine the potential of selected sub sectors in creating jobs and increasing income for urban poor, primarily for women and youth in Addis Ababa.
Duties and responsibilities of the Senior Market Systems Specialist
The Senior Marketing Systems Specialist is responsible for:
· The overall coordination of the market systems development in the anticipated urban livelihoods improvement programme in the Addis Ababa city;
· Coordinate market systems identification and its detailed analysis; and facilitate, coordinate and participate in the design of strategic market-based intervention and supports/facilitates its implementation;
· Facilitates capacity building for internal and external market actors;
· Work closely with key market players (including government agencies, private business companies, financial institutions and business development service providers) to enhance their performance in the market systems improvement;
· Closely work and collaborate with other consortium members staffs to achieve programme objectives and goals;
· Define and document best practices along the programme implementation for further development of the programme;
Required qualification and technical knowledge
· High level (Master’s Degree or the equivalent) documented education and training in relevant disciplines – such as international development, business, economics, trade, financial systems, labor markets or a related field of study– appropriate for market-based approach to employment and social protection in urban contexts;
· Relevant theoretical knowledge and practical experience on Making Markets Work for the Poor (M4P) approach;
· At least eight years’ work experience in Urban livelihoods development activities; with demonstrated experience in promoting urban poor groups, especially youth and gender engagement.

· Excellent/very good documented analytical skills,
· Proven experience of networking and working in a multidisciplinary, multicultural and diverse team-working environment;
· Full professional proficiency in spoken and written English, and very good report writing and lessons documentation skills,
· Ability to create, open-minded, learning, constructive and easily adapt to dynamic working environment.
· Self-reliant in computer skills,
· Other relevant knowledge and specific experiences related to the aims and focus of the programme within the context of Ethiopia.
