Mathiwos Wondu-YeEthiopia Cancer Society (MWECS) is non-government and non-profit making organization dedicated to the national control of cancer. It is Ethiopian Resident Charity, has been working with national and international partners on Cancer & Non-Communicable Diseases Control Programs. The society has been collaborating with Federal Ministry of Health and respective organizations on National Cancer Control. The society is supporting pediatric and women cancer patients who are under treatment at Black Lion Hospital. It is also implementing Women cancer projects in three regions (Addis Ababa, Oromia and SNNPR) with more than 10 Public Facilities. Thus, the society is intending to employ full time Project officer to implement pediatric & women cancer prevention and control projects. Job Requirement
First degree in public health or social sciences (such as sociology,economics,social work etc) & a minimum of 2 years of related experience in coordinating health program/projects preferably at regional, zonal and Woreda levels are required by post holder.
Duties and responsibilities
The project officer expected to have relevant work experience in implementation and coordinating health projects in an NGO environment.
Strong experience on community based health project design, implementation and follow up.
Demonstrate experience in project activity & budget planning, monitoring and evaluation of projects and report writing.
Experience in behavioral change and information communication for public health projects required.
Experience in working with multiple regional, zonal and woreda health bureau offices.
Ability and willingness to travel frequently to the regions, zones, woredas and health facilities across the project implementation sites.
Experience working on projects involving care and support of children and women beneficiaries.
Additional skill required: Good contextual understanding of Non Communicable Diseases (NCDs) focusing on cancer prevention and control. Experience on project proposal writing and project development is an asset. Applicants are also expected to demonstrate key behavioral competencies required by the position. Basic Computer skills (MS Word, Excel, Power point, internet is mandatory). Knowledge of English and Amharic is required)
