BACKGROUND:
The All African Leprosy Rehabilitation and Training Center (ALERT) was established in 1934 to serve as a specialized clinical research and training center for Ethiopia, Africa and beyond on Leprosy, TB and other relevant infectious diseases. ALERT comprises of two big divisions; ALERT training division and ALERT Hospital. The training division of ALERT has a track record of providing training for health professionals in clinical and non-clinical areas for the last 50 years. The center gives basic trainings, training of trainers (TOT) and advanced level courses.
The ALERT training center has been organizing and conducting national and international trainings for health workers in the area of Leprosy, Dermatology, Tuberculosis, and other communicable diseases; addressing both clinical and programmatic issues since 1965 E.C. The center was accepted as a training center for Africa by heads of state of the Organizations of African Union. In addition, it was also recognized as a WHO collaborating center for Leprosy training in 1981 E.C. Moreover, it has been selected as a center of excellence for HIV/AIDS trainings as of 2009 G.C.
Currently, the training center is working to improve the learning approach in a more cost effective and efficient manner through blended training by introducing video conferencing and e-Learning platform. To this end, the center has established a state of the art video conference rooms and e-Learning section with the support from USAID / Challenge TB Project for Strengthening and ensuring sustainability of blended and eLearning at ALERT training center in support of institutionalization of comprehensive TB trainings in Ethiopia.
POSITION SUMMARY:
These position is located in Addis Ababa ALERT Center compound. Under the direct supervision of the ALERT Center CEO, the directorate director will be responsible for the overall accountabilities and specific job requirements outlined hereunder.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
· Develop, implement, and monitor training programs.
· Establish and maintain quality systems and procedures for all training programs to ensure that Centre meets all requirements of Governing Bodies.
· Working closely with the ALERT Management team, Federal Ministry of Health, Regional Health Bureaus and Partners to develop and implement plans for the Training programs.
· Produce regular reports on good practice.
· Actively engage in the National CPD and CME Programs.
· Manage Training Center Facility, Hostel and logistics for Trainees.
· Engaged with the development of strategic plans for grant & funding opportunity.
· Participate with the existing project activity in ALERT Center.
· Strive to keep the training center at international level
· Any duties as per the instruction of the CEO.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
· Master’s degree in Health related, and relevant field of study.
· At least 6 years’ experience in managerial, leadership or supervisory role
· Understanding of Ethiopia’s Public Health programs
· Background and experience in conducting and coordinating trainings,
· WritingToRs and fund raising proposals for project will be highly advantageous.
· Exposure to developing training manuals will be an asset
· Familiarity with project management
· Ability to thrive in a fast-moving, start-up environment, with an emphasis on high-performance, teamwork, adaptive problem-solving, accountability and results
· Highly facilitative and collaborative leadership style and ability to develop relationships with partners.
· Strong set of personal values including integrity, honesty and desire to be of service
· Excellent oral and written communication skills in English and Amharic; fluency in additional regional language is a plus but not required
