JOB TITLE: TRANSLATOR/TRANSCRIBER (Re-advertisement)
REPORTING TO: PROGRAM OFFICER
LOCATION: ADDIS ABABA
The Population Council is an international, nonprofit, and nongovernmental organization established in 1952 to address population and development issues in developing countries. Population Council conducts research worldwide to improve policies, programs, and products in three main areas: HIV and AIDS; poverty, gender, and youth; and reproductive health.
POSITION SUMMARY: Currently the Population Council is conducting a small scale qualitative study aimed at exploring systems bottlenecks, contextual barriers and opportunities to prevention and management of pre-eclampsia in selected Woredas of Sidama Zone, SNNPR. The Council invites qualified and experienced candidates to translate (and/or transcribe) pre-recorded qualitative interviews into English. The interview was conducted in local languages of Sidamigna. Successful candidates should fulfill the following requirements:
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
· Translating/Transcribing FGD and key informant interviews recorded in Sidamigna into English;
· Cleaning, revising and editing translation of the entire material in English languages is required.
QUALIFICATIONS:
· B.A in Demography, Sociology, Anthropology or related field from a recognized University
Work experience and skills:
· Extensive experience in transcription of qualitative interviews;
· Fluent writing and oral skills in English and Sidamigna
· Have excellent grammar and punctuation skills;
· Fast typing skills;
· Close attention to detail and ability to work in fast paced environment.
