Tool kit translation, adaption and printing
• INTRODUCTION:
SASA! which in Kswahili means ‘NOW’ is an approach to engage community leaders in Gender Based Violence prevention efforts in their communities. . It is a methodology for addressing the link between violence against women and HIV that is meant to inspire, enable and structure effective community mobilization to prevent violence against women and HIV. The SASA tool kit is originally developed in Ksahili for Ugandan audience and includes a wide range of creative materials, such as posters, comics.info sheets, and soap operas dramas to help provoke discussion and debates about power, Violence against women and girls and HIV. Currently International Medical Corps is implementing SASA! for refugees from Somalia hosted in Somali region, Dollo Ado Camps and plans to translate and adopt the SASA! tool kit to Somali Language and the context to fit the Somali culture. Therefore, International Medical Corps would like to contract individual consultant or a firm that can translate, adopt and print the adopted SASA! tool kit as per the below scope of work.
• Scope of Work:
Modules- Four modules
• Visit the location-conduct focus group discussions to help understand the cultural context of the refugees- (Somali culture)
• Design and Illustration: Design-rework and adopt the tool kit. Adopt all the pictures/figures in the tool kit in such a way that it is acceptable and fit in to the Somali cultural context with full emphasis to the relevancy of the culture.
• Translation: Translate the tool to commonly used Somali language-in a way that can be easily understood by the community
• Test the product with the community prior to printing
• Printing: one sample from each module
Required expertise:
• Experience in illustration (sample of work should be presented along with the proposal)
• Ability to hire Somali language experts to translate the tool kit to Somali language
• Quality printing- (sample of work should be presented along with the proposal)
• The ability to deliver fast-within the 45 days’ time period
Deliverables of the contractor/consultant/firm:
• Four SASA! tool kit, modules translated, adopted and printed (one sample from each module) along with the soft copy
International Medical Corps Inputs
International Medical Corps will provide the following inputs:
• Pay the contractor in three installments:
• Initial instalment payment 25%- up on evidence of previous work
• Second payment 25%- up on delivery of the first draft (proof of work performed)
• Third payment 25%- up on final draft submission for final review
• Forth payment 25%- final delivery of work based on the above set deliverables
• Two times transportation- to and from Dollo Ado camp - Round trip
• For focused group discussion
• Product testing
Timeline (Specific dates to be agreed with the Artist)
• Contract singing- July 12/2017
• First draft submission- August 2/2017
• Second draft submission- 11/2017
• Third draft – 18/2017 final feedback
• Final- soft copy and hard copy submission- August 28/2017
