Context and Scope of the Position
The Displacement Tracking Matrix (DTM) is a system to track and monitor population mobility. It is designed to regularly capture, process, and disseminate various layers of information to provide a better understanding of the evolving needs of a displaced population, on site or en route. Since 2012, the International Organization for Migration (IOM) Special Liaison Office (SLO) in Addis Ababa works with the Government of Ethiopia and Humanitarian Partners to conduct internal displacement monitoring in multiple regions (Afar, Amhara, Benishangul Gumz, Dire Dawa, Gambella, Hareri, Oromia, SNNP, Somali and Tigray) of Ethiopia. In order to more strengthen the DTM data collection and analysis IOM decided to recruit information management assistant to be based at Addis Ababa.
Core Functions / Responsibilities:
Under the general supervision of the EPC programme coordinator and direct supervision of the National IM/DTM programme officer, the successful candidate will be:
1. Provide specialized support for the timely preparation and generation of DTM information products, and then information sharing and dissemination to all relevant channels.
2. Review and analyze data from the Displacement Tracking Metrix (DTM) across the country
3. Support the DTM methodologies and data quality control.
4. Conduct analysis of quantitative data and findings of Displacement Tracking Metrix (DTM) data collection rounds and determine relevant information for inclusion in reports.
5. Support the draft and production of Displacement Tracking Metrix (DTM) reports (National and regional round reports, National and regional dashboards, flash reports, and situation updates, among others) and support the development of other relevant DTM tools such as thematic surveys, alerts, regional updates etc.
6. Participate in UN and other stakeholder technical working groups related to information management and statistical methodologies for data collection and representation.
7. Contribute to the design and management of databases and information systems (including geographical databases and geographical information system coding), dataset extraction for analysis, and data representation.
8. Perform such other duties as may be assigned.
