Overall responsible for the Animal Health Products (AHPs') distribution and training of Co-operative Unions and Farmers on the proper usage and administration of the AHPs.
Overall responsible for the Etete Heifer Project implementation that will entail identifying suitable sources of superior breed Heifers' with at least 75 % of imported breed upgrade-e.g. Holstein Freshian, carrying out documented Health checks on the heifers, facilitating and obtaining the necessary government approvals and licenses for the purchase and movement of the Heifers from the source to the respective Co-operatives Unions and Farmers.
Training Co-operatives and Farmers on the best practices on Animal Husbandry -to achieve the best productivity from the Heifers.
Training the Co-operatives on the proper animal feeding habits using the Concentrated animal feeds and the fodder crops -for optimum productivity per cow -with improved milk quality and quantity.
Raw Milk procurement through aggressive recruitment of new Farmers, Co-operative Unions and other bulk quality milk suppliers to deliver/sell quality raw milk to Etete while ensuring their retention and also developing and opening new milk procurement catchment areas guided by the daily, monthly and quarterly targets that will be set and agreed upon.
Ensure all Etete Farmers, Co-operative Unions and all other Bulk raw milk suppliers' who deliver/sell quality raw milk to Etete have valid and legally binding Raw Milk supply contracts –attached to a contract addendum indicating the Raw Milk Quality Specifications, applicable raw milk prices and the minimum and maximum Quantities’ of Raw Milk that they will be required to supply Etete depending on the forces of supply and demand at a given season/fasting and non fasting period. Validity of all contracts will be agreed upon by Etete Management and communicated in a timely manner.
Monitoring of milk collection from all Etete Raw Milk Cooling Hubs and collection centers and ensuring that the milk meets the set quality specifications and that the milk is delivered within the stipulated timelines- to mitigate quality deterioration while on transit.
Recommending , initiating and managing the procurement of quality control and laboratory equipment’s that will be used by Etete milk graders –in liaison with Etete Quality Assurance Manager – they will include all milk handling and testing equipment’s like Alcohol Guns, Lactometers’ and ensuring that all Etete Aluminum Cans are physically counted , recorded and cleaned on a daily basis.
Developing and maintaining accurate field milk procurement and recording systems as well as reporting daily milk collection data to the Etete Management through email, text , whatsapp in liaison with the MPE Manager.
Ensuring that the Etete Milk Procurement Assistants and Raw Milk Graders are effectively supervised to achieve their respective documented Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s) and Daily Targets – especially on the Raw Milk Quality specifications and Quantity of raw milk collected at all times.
Monitoring and reporting the daily milk collection and delivery trends with an objective of identifying areas that require the Etete management’s prompt attention and reporting the same to the MPE Manager with recommendations for corrective action.
Collect and collate Raw milk prices and other value adding extension services being offered by other processors/competitors and raw milk production intelligence information per milk catchment zone, co-operative union, middlemen and individual farmers and avail the weekly report to the MPE Manager by Close Of Business (COB) every Monday –for timely decision making.
Ensuring that all Etete contracted Co-operative Unions/ Raw Milk Suppliers complaint’s emanating from the Etete Raw Milk Collection Staff field activities are attended to promptly through the involvement of the MPE -Manager, Factory Manager and GM.
Co-ordinate all Field extension services in close liaison with the Etete Management and other Stakeholders. Ensure that all Contracted Etete Co-operative Unions/ Farmers are taken through regular on-site training on improving raw milk quality and quantity on a continuous basis –based on a pre-agreed training calendar and budget.
Oversee the operations and accountability of the Etete contracted Farmers Subsidized -IFDC- 2 SCALE - Animal Feeds Program, ensuring that there is adequate Feeds stock at all times and that the services is readily available to the farmers as per their requirements. Fast track transport logistics to ensure Farmers receive the feeds from AKF in a timely manner and that Etete receives all Feeds payments within the stipulated timelines.
Ensure that the farmers get proper Artificial Insemination (AI) services from the service providers –Private/Company and Government AI service providers –whenever they are available to enable the Farmers gradually upgrade their Cattle breeds and Genetics- for better quality and quantity of Milk.
Identification of farmers’ extension services needs that Etete can be involved in to strengthen the partnership between the company and the Farmers for the long term through the development of extension methodologies for implementation to the farmers.
Liaising and collaborating with agricultural farm input manufactures-Feeds, Ethiopian government departments, research organizations, Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOS’) in the provision of Extension Services to all Etete Contracted Co-operative Unions and other Raw Milk Suppliers requiring any of the services that would enhance our Raw Milk quality and quantity.
Ensure that the Etete management team is updated on daily basis on all matters concerning Milk Procurement and Extension (MPE) services through written and signed reports and any other approved communication methods.
The job holder shall however periodically be required to follow up on any other MPE departmental instructions and to perform any other related assignments as requested by the Etete Management through the MPE Manager.
